It's now closed for good. Really sad. The owner came off as testy and grumpy. But when you got to know him a bit, he was truly an alright guy. A clerk at Safeway said that rents recently were increased for shopping center tenants. And it's been an on-going issue for them to get workers who stuck around. I wish the best for him and his employees.
Soooooo good!! Great fries. So happy they survived the pandemic. It's our go-to place for sandwiches. My personal fave is the hot pastrami. My daughter favors the Philly cheesesteak. My hubby's fave is the mushroom and cheese Philly. Everything is delicious there. But do get the fries!! You will not be disappointed.
You wouldn't expect an old school deli like this in Foster City but it's here and it's delicious. I'm partial to The Godfather sandwich in all of its Italian sub goodness. The cheesesteaks and burgers are great too, and the fries come out hot and fresh. Compared to the other American fare in Foster City that consists mainly of fast food, this is the place to be!
A lot of people were ordering various cheese streaks while I was here. Those must be good. I ordered the daily special which was the grilled honey turkey melt. This was a nice hot sandwich that was really flavorful. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a nice variety of drinks. They're right next to a grocery store so parking is convenient.
Love their sandwiches, the owner Pam was there! Super nice and friendly, the sandwiches are in 2 size and I just preferred the long foot ones. Philly chicken was my order, order got ready less than 10 minutes. Chicken sandwich had sautée green paper. The only problem or weakness is due to changing or replacing the deck , there is no table or even seat outside. Please consider it as a to go and seat in the car situation. The portion is huge, so maybe you don't finish it all.
Alright, for being a lover of all things philly cheesesteaks, I'm really glad I was able to make my way out to Plaza Gourmet Deli. A 'GOOD' Philly cheesesteaks are really hard to come by here in the Peninsula, and this one definitely hit the mark, although there is room for improvement. Ordering was simple, peep the menu on the counter and on the wall. They have a bunch of different phillies to choose from, along with a good selection of hot sandwiches and sides. I'm a big hoagie fan, so the Boston Philly was the one that caught my eye because it was a philly with lettuce and tomato. This philly was massive, filling and flavorful for only $10.99. Really hit the spot after intermittent fasting for 16 hours. Now that I've experienced it, on my next go around, I'd ask for the bread to be toasted. The toasting of the bread would hold the sandwich up and add a nice crunchy texture, as the softer bread kinda got soggy from all the meat juices. Another thing I noticed was that the cheese was at the bottom of the cheesesteak which I haven't experienced before. I would much prefer the cheese to be melted and gooey right on top of the meat. I ended up adding extra mayo when I got home too, which helped. Overall, with some minor tweaks to my order, I can see this being a go-to philly spot for me here in the Peninsula
